A Community of Believers Transforming Lives through Jesus Christ
We have lots of programs for children at Pell City FUMC!
Sunday School classes meet every Sunday from 9:15 to 10:15.  Sunday School teachers commit to teach for at least one year, so children and teachers form a very special bond!  Our Sunday School classes are divided as follows:
      2 & 3 year olds
      4 & 5 year old kindergarten
      1st & 2nd grade
      3rd & 4th grade

 NURSERY
Our nursery ladies are the best!  We love our babies, and we want to provide them a very loving, safe environment.  A nursery is provided for each of the scheduled worship services, fellowship dinners, and other regularly planned events.  Parents of infants should call ahead for special events to ensure a nursery worker has been scheduled.  For nursery inquiries, please call the church office at 205-338-3374.

CHILDREN'S SERMONS
During the 10:30 traditional service, the children are invited down to the altar for a children's moment.  The kids (and adults!) hear a brief Bible lesson and story.  After a prayer, they are invited to exit with their teachers for Children's Church.

CHILDREN'S CHURCH
During the 10:30 contemporary and traditional services, children ages two through third grade are invited to attend Children's Church.  The classes are taught by volunteers on a monthly rotation, so the atmosphere is always fresh!  Children sing, play, make crafts, hear stories, and explore the Bible!  Bring your kids and come and join the fun!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT PROGRAMS
There are children's programs offered on Wednesday nights during the fall and spring sessions.   Scheduled sessions are approximately Labor Day until Thanksgiving and post-New Year through May.  (Please check the calendar for specific start/stop dates!)  Children through sixth grade attend during the specified sessions.  Our early elementary classes (preschool through second grade) become more familiar with Bible stories through action... drama, games, science experiments, and more!  The older elementary classes  learn through a series of fun Bible studies, games, and competitions.  You'd be surprised at all the knowledge these young scholars have accumulated!
MISSION PROJECTS
The Methodist church believes strongly in mission work, and we're instilling this tenet in our kids.  Our children serve breakfast at the Glen Addie Mission a few times each year.   At Easter, they stuffed goodie bags for underserved kids in town.  They've collected money for overseas mission projects, collected school supplies for needy kids, and baked cookies & decorated cards for shut-ins.  We're always looking for ways to serve in our community!
SPECIAL EVENTS
Movie events!  Fun days!  Church life is fun at Pell City FUMC!  We get excited about any reason to gather in fellowship!   Keep an eye on our calendar for updates on ways to get involved!
HOLIDAY EVENTS AND PROGRAMS
The children produce and perform a Christmas Pageant each December.  We hunt eggs and party during the Easter season.  We get together for some good clean fun at a Halloween carnival and chili supper.  We celebrate for an entire week during Vacation Bible School!  We've proven that the best way to learn about Christian faith, traditions and holidays is... you guessed it... to have fun!

CHILD SAFETY POLICIES
God calls us to make our churches safe places, protecting children and other vulnerable persons from sexual and ritual abuse.  God calls us to create communities of faith where children and adults grow safe and strong.  (From The Book of Resolutions of The United Methodist Church, 1996.  (c) 1996 by The United Methodist Publishing House.)
We understand the dangers in the world, and we strive to do our very best to offer the safest, most secure community of faith possible for our children as they grow in God's love.  To that end, we have a child safety policy in place.  All leaders of our children and youth are required to attend Safe Sanctuaries training where they are schooled in identifying and reporting abuse.  Our policies govern how we interact with children, how many adults and children should be present and in what ratio for any given circumstance, etc.  For a complete copy of our Safe Sanctuaries policy, please see the church office.  We offer a free training course at least every two months, and new volunteers are encouraged to join a session and receive training throughout the year.

A nursery pager system has recently been purchased (with help from the Madeleine Petznick memorial fund) in order to quickly and quietly alert parents when they are needed in the nursery.  You can leave your infant/toddler with us and know that you can be contacted at any time!  What reassurance!
GET INVOLVED!  Jump on board!  We're a dynamic, growing ministry and we're having a blast!  Come on down!
