Sunday School Classes

We offer a variety of Sunday School classes to suit your particular age group and preferred learning style. Check out our available classes and choose the one that best fits your needs. Every class would LOVE to have you come and visit!
Beginnings Class
Teaching Style: DVD with Discussion
Teacher: Kyle Shelton
Location: 1st Floor of the Education Building
Join the Beginnings class with other people who have recently become connected to our church. This class is appropriate for any believer, new or mature, and is designed to discuss the most basics beliefs of the Christian faith in a welcoming and hospitable environment. 
 
Varona Perry Class
Age Range: 65+ (Senior-Seniors)
Average Attendance: 35
Teaching Style: Lecture
Teacher: Charles E. Smith
Meeting Location: 2nd Floor of the Education Building, next to the Prayer Room

The Seekers

Age Range: 60+
Average Attendance: 30
Teaching Style: Lecture with Q&A
Teacher: Dr. Karen Joines
Meeting Location: 1st Floor Education Building, off the Fellowship Hall
This warm, caring and loving class is connected to one another through study, prayer and fellowship. Their studies range from books, to theological studies, to the Methodist Quarterly. Beyond study, they have prayer partners and gather twice a month for fellowship. They also support missions by sponsoring an endowment fund.

Serendipity
Age Range: 50s-70s
Average Attendance: 25
Teaching Style: Lecture and discussion
Teacher: Mike Carr
Meeting Location: 1st Floor Education Building, next to Handicap Parking
The study topics of this class vary from biblical studies to topical, examples of which include a recent study of "Christianity's Family Tree," a focus on different denominations. Serendipity is a warm, socialable class with a mix of couples and singles.

New Wine
Age Range: Mid-40s-60s
Average Attendance: 10-12
Teaching Style: Lecture and discussion
Teacher: Janet Jones/Lee James
Meeting Location: 2nd Floor Education Building, Church Library
Singles and couples are welcome to join this relaxed, open and casual atmosphere.

Adult Bible Study
Age Range: 40+
Average Attendance: 10
Teaching Style: Lecture
Teacher: Steve Roberts
Meeting Location: 2nd Floor Education Building, next to Library
This class studies each book of the Bible in a systematic order.

New Covenant
Age Range: Mid-20s-Mid-40s
Average Attendance: 10-15
Teaching Style: Discussion
Teachers:  Kameron Carden and Skip Skillman
Meeting Location: The Beacon, Garner Room
The class is geared toward young adults, but all ages are welcome! Recent authors who works have been studies include Beth Moore, James Macdonald, and John Piper. If you are looking for a Sunday School class with a lot of good discussion (and a good dose of laughter!), please consider joining this group.

New Genesis
Age Range: Mid-20s-Mid-70s
Average Attendance: 30
Teaching Style: Discussion
Teacher: Ann Self
Meeting Location: 1st Floor Education Building, Wesley Conference Room
This class is an enthusiastic, Bible-carrying, motley crew focused on the study of scripture. They do their homework so as to get the most out of what is read and discussed. And according to Ms. Ann, they are particularly cognizant of the Biblical footnotes and commentary! Their conviction is that what is studies should always be applied - in other words, if it ain't working, it's just words! People of all ages who are seeking fellow travelers down the journey of faith are welcome!

Sojourners

Teaching Style:  Discussion
Teacher:  Rev. Ava Rozelle
Meeting Location:  2nd Floor Education Building (Room 201)
This class uses both a study guide and a DVD.  The current study is Brian McLaren's "A Generous Orthodoxy".  This class has also undertaken a new project of puting together Caregiver Baskets to be delivered to those who are providing care to someone else.
